Denise & Mark :: Pearl Brewery Engagement Portraits :: San Antoino, Texas

...HERE IS THEIR STORY (as told by Denise)...

"Mark and I met through his brother Sony. Occasionally Sony would bring Mark along to parties or bars that we would meet up at. Maybe about the third time I saw him we actually hit it off, over a beer. Someone had bought me a Bud Light and Mark a Pacifico. Mark wasn't too fond of what he got so I offer a trade as I actually preferred Pacifico to Bud Light. This is where our story begins.

A week later Mark had to go back to California, where he was stationed with the Marine Corp.  About a month after that he was going to be deployed to Afghanistan. So this was a month full of texts, emails and late night phone calls. The weekend before he was to deploy, he made a quick trip to San Antonio just so we could hang out one more time. The next 8 months were full of letters, emails and late night/early morning phone calls. This deployment seemed to go on for forever. While in Afghanistan he asked me to go to the Marine Corp Ball. For a girl that never had any prom dates, or dates at all for that matter, this was a huge deal. It was there at the Marine Corp Ball that we became a couple.

One fine day in February Mark called me to say he was having car problems, with his new car. He was going to take it to my parents so my dad could help him fix it. This seemed odd to me because it was a new car. Why take it to my dad to get it fixed?  Why not take it to the dealership? I told Mark I'd meet him at my parents house. But Mark had other plans. He insisted that I go straight to my own apartment and wait for him there. After a lot of us going back and forth about me staying home, I finally let Mark win.  I went home and an hour later he showed up.  Just as I was going to give Mark a hard time about not wanting to meet up, he gave me a hug and said he loved me very much...  and couldn't see himself with anyone else. Still confused, and thinking this was his way of apologizing,  I didn't get the hint. Then he got down on one knee.  I literally dropped what I was holding.  He then asked me to marry him... and I said YES!

The very next day we adopted our first dog, a black Labrador Retriever named Spudnick.  Three months later we got Chico, our little American Bully."

...................................................

Denise and Mark (and their pups) met me at the Pearl Brewery, one of San Antonio's fantastic locations to seamlessly include pets with engagement portraits.  Spudnick and Chico behaved themselves like the little rambunctious puppies they are and were complimented during most of the session by passerby.  But... a big THANK YOU to Denise's family, Jessica and Mario, for their invaluable dog watching help!!!

Mark and Denise, you two have one amazing future ahead.  If your wedding will be anything like this session, then you have one amazingly fun party ahead of you!  I enjoyed every moment of this evening and cannot wait to document your wedding day.  Enjoy...
